Reminiscing

Thomas's Graduation:

Literally one of those top ten life moments! Nerves, excitement, joy, and love all described the mood of the entire car ride to William & Mary college that June day. Thomas was ready and rearing to go, like a proud peacock! As soon as the entire class entered the floor, because you see Thomas and another classmate had reserved seating, up close and on the floor to the side, so he wanted to join the class the entire time, but that was his spot for the ceremony, luckily he was with all his family, so he wasn't too unhappy :) I decorated his cap the night before, with his favorite team, Virginia Tech Hokies....gobble gobble! He wore a bow tie with penguins on it that day too!

The Defining moment......

When Thomas was to walk down and join the row he was to follow, at first we weren't sure if he would need/want help walking across the stage, so we quickly made the decision that mom should be the one to walk him, considering all she has done and gone through to see Thomas here and now in this moment, graduating!!!! WOOOHOO

Needless to say Thomas walked by himself with no help, even though his teacher was in line with him for support and aide. When they called his name, he slowly made his way up the side stairs to begin his walk across the stage, to shake hands and grab his diploma. And in that moment right before he made his walk across the stage, the entire class, crowd, and of course all of us five family members and friends went wild screaming, cheering, and clapping (despite the hold of applause that was stated in the beginning, due to the overwhelming number of graduates.) This was the defining moment, the one in which will forever be in our hearts, the thought that brings me tears, the experience that still gives me chills, all from enormous pride and joy for Thomas and that moment of recognition! As tears flowed down all our faces we screamed and shouted his name! We are still so proud of you Thomas, our graduate!
